THE HANNON LAW FIRM, LLC
LARGE FIRM CLOUT...SMALL FIRM SERVICE
A Law Firm ON YOUR SIDE

The Hannon Law Firm, LLC stands ready to assist you with any legal challenge you face.   This is one law firm that's ON YOUR SIDE

The Hannon Law Firm, LLC was started on a very simple premise: To provide zealous representation to those clients facing legal challenges - whether they have been wronged and seek relief through a civil case in court, or if they have been charged with serious criminal offenses at the trial and post-conviction stages of a criminal prosecution.  The firm believes in strong representation and has seen a great deal of success by going the extra mile in customer service, communicating with our clients, and exceeding expectations.   In no way can we ever guarantee results – nobody can do that because a judge or jury determines the outcome of a case.  But, a promise we do make is that we will work as hard as you are willing to work on your case.

Our Motto: Nobody will work harder for you.  You can be assured that, as a client of this firm, your best interests are our focus.  In January 2008, W. Scott Hannon started The Hannon Law Firm, LLC, a full-service, general practice litigation firm with its principal office in Baltimore, Maryland.  This small, general practice law firm serves clients with a variety of legal issues – both civil and criminal, but the bulk of the practice focuses on state and federal criminal defense and post conviction relief.

After serving the nation as a career Marine officer, then later becoming a stockbroker and then a federal civil servant, Mr. Hannon started The Hannon Law Firm, LLC in order to protect civil liberties following the tragic events of September 11, 2001.  Having personally experienced an abuse of authority and overzealous police investigation techniques from an FBI Special Agent in the hasty investigation of crimes after 9/11, Mr. Hannon is now dedicated to preserving civil liberties guaranteed by our Constitution.

During his time in the Marine Corps, Mr. Hannon was an Intelligence Officer and worked in theaters of combat on several occasions.  In
Kuwait during Desert Storm in 1991, he led a platoon of Marines in-country as a sniper platoon commander and Marine Infantry Battalion Intelligence Officer; after that experience, he conducted counter-narcotics operations in Latin America in the early 1990s; and later he provided surveillance of warring factions in Bosnia in 1996.  In recognition of his service and leadership, he received numerous awards and commendations, to include the Joint Services Commendation Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal, NATO Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon for action under hostile enemy fire.

Mr. Hannon attained an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the Pennsylvania State University, a Master’s Degree in International Relations from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI, and a law degree from the University of the District of Columbia.  During law school, Mr. Hannon was honored as a Dean’s Fellow and a recipient of both the James Farmer Scholarship and the David C. Niblack Public Defender Scholarship. While a law student, he represented DC residents in two separate legal clinics: one for HIV-positive clients seeking benefits and exerting rights; and another for whistle blowers who reported wrongdoing in the federal government.

Upon admission to the bar, Mr. Hannon began litigating criminal trial, post-conviction relief and civil cases in Maryland and Washington, DC.  Highlights of his work include successfully arguing before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals in a case where Mr. Hannon was able to overcome the time limit for notice required in the Maryland Tort Claims Act by demonstrating that malice existed when sheriff’s deputies brutally beat his client after he had succumbed to police authority.   Other highlights include successfully litigating in employment discrimination cases and negotiating settlements for a clients in civil rights cases throughout the state of Maryland.

Mr. Hannon is absolutely committed to his clients and is a zealous advocate for their interests. During the time Mr. Hannon has been practicing law, he is proud to claim that he has personally visited clients in every one of the many state and federal correctional institutions in
Maryland and DC, providing personalized client service, especially important to a population who so badly need legal representation, but so rarely receive it once they are incarcerated.

Mr. Hannon is an active member of numerous veterans, legal, and non-profit organizations, including the Disabled American Veterans, the American Association for Justice, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the American Bar Association.  He is on the Board of Directors of Guide Program, Inc., a not-for-profit provider of services and residential placement for people suffering from mental illness.
